hot chocolate

There’s nothing more cozy and comforting during the holidays than homemade hot chocolate. This drink brings back so many memories during the holiday season. It's perfect to make on Christmas Eve for the whole family to enjoy. You can add any of your favorite toppings, like hot fudge, whipped cream, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and crushed peppermint. The possibilities are endless!


Here's what you'll need:


Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 cups of low-fat milk

  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream

  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Combine the milk, cream and chocolate chips in a saucepan over medium low heat. Cook until the chocolate has melted and make sure to stir frequently.

  2. Mix in the sugar and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Taste and add more milk or sugar if desired. Once warm, remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Add a pinch of salt and cinnamon for taste.

  3. Pour into festive mugs and top with mini marshmallows or whipped cream or add any toppings you prefer. Serve while warm.

pumpkin spice latte

This is one of my all time favorite drinks during the fall and winter months so I wanted to share a recipe for a homemade version to make for yourself! This delicious drink is one of the most popular specialty coffee drinks around the world especially during the holiday season!


Here's what you'll need:


Ingredients:


- 1 cup of whole milk

- 2 tbsp of pumpkin puree

- 1 tbsp of maple syrup

- 1/2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice

- 1 tsp of vanilla extract

- 1/4 cup of hot espresso or coffee


For Garnish:


- 1 tbsp of whipped cream

- 1/2 tbsp of chocolate shavings

- 1/2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice

- 1/2 tsp of cinnamon


Directions:


  1. Combine milk, pumpkin, maple syrup, spice, and vanilla extract in a saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Cook, whisking frequently, until the mixture is warmed, then blend mixture in a blender until the liquid becomes frothy.

  3. Pour hot espresso into a mug, then top with pumpkin-spice foamed milk.

  4. Top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice, and chocolate shavings.

caramel coffee

There are so many delicious coffee drinks to choose from! Caramel iced coffee with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle is always my go to drink whenever I go out for coffee! I also enjoy having a small espresso with homemade Italian cookies whenever I'm with family.
